The Complete List: Flying scholarships in the UK in 2021

Over the upcoming year of 2021, there is a variety of sponsored scholarships that will be available to prospective and experienced flyers alike across the UK. These flying scholarships vary in eligibility and prerequisites, so ensure that all of the information provided for a particular scholarship is engaged with prior to application.
We will be updating the list as new scholarships will come throughout the year 2021.

1.) The Honourable Company of Air Pilots Gliding Scholarship 2021 (Gliding)
The Gliding Scholarship 2021 are available to people aged 16 or over and are offered on a residential basis. This residential encompasses one week of flying training provided at a youth-approved British Gliding Association centre. These courses will take place over the course of the summer holidays of 2021, spanning July and August. Candidates chosen will be able to indicate a preference of the week that they undergo the residential across this period.
Terms and conditions:
The Gliding Scholarship will cover the training costs of the residential; travel to and from the residential and required interview are the responsibility of the candidate. Interviews in London will be carried out across the 20-21 April 2021. Participants must be aged 16 or over as of 1 July 2021.

Deadlines: Applications will open in the New Year of 2021; the opening date is unspecified as of yet. London interviews will be carried out across 20-21 April 2021, as mentioned above.
How to apply: When applications open, send the completed document to [email protected]. Applications must be completed in handwriting and scanned in as a multipage pdf document.
2.) The Honourable Company of Air Pilots Private Pilot’s Licence Scholarship 2021 (PPL)
The Private Pilot’s License scholarship is ideal for both those with no experience looking to gain a flying license and those that are partially trained in flying but looking to finish off their training elsewhere than where they began. Applications are welcomed from international candidates. This scholarship entails 45 hours of first-hand training across the summer and covers the costs of the license issued and the flying training. Accommodation, transport, and other necessary provisions are not covered under the scholarship costs.
Terms and conditions:
Open to interested participants worldwide; training must be undertaken in a UK flying school regardless of place of residence. Participants must be aged 17 or over as of 1 June 2021, and training must be completed by 5 October 2021.

Deadlines: Applications are open now until 3 February 2021. London-based interviews will be carried out across 28-29 April 2021.
How to apply: Apply by filling out the downloadable form and sending it to [email protected]. Please note the document must be filled out in handwriting and scanned in again, saving it as a PDF document under the document name “surname.forename”.
3.) The Honourable Company of Air Pilots Flight Instructor Certificate Scholarship 2021 (FI rating)
The completion of the Flight Instructor Certificate Scholarship will award participates the Fixed Wing Flying Instructor Certificate. This scholarship encompasses the costs of direct training and the costs of examinations. Any other expenses, including travel expenses and obtaining of required Medical certification, are excluded from the scholarship benefits.
Terms and conditions:
You must be available to complete training during the summer of 2021. The scholarship award is subject to the ability to pass EASA medical standards and other pre-entry requirements.

Deadlines: Course must be completed during the summer of 2021. Arrangements for the course will be finalised by mid-June, and testing must be completed by the 5 October 2021. Applications will be open soon.
