TAP Air Portugal to hire cadet pilots directly from graduates of FTEJerez

TAP Air Portugal and FTEJerez announced a new agreement. Based on it, FTEJerez will choose potential pilots from the group of their graduates with excellent results to be offered to become First Officers at TAP Air Portugal.
Candidates have to hold EASA ATPL Licence which follows requirements set by TAP Air Portugal. Then they will be judged by representatives of the airline. According to the FTEJerez CEO, Oscar Sordo, this contract confirms the high standard of FTEJerez training. Ramiro Sequeira, TAP Air Portugal COO, added that the airline relies on FTEJerez delivering high quality ab initio training and new generation of excellent pilots.
According to a source close to the company, TAP Air Portugal pilot assessment should include simulator check, psychometric testing (WOMBAT test, group exercise, written test), medical examination (more restrictive than Part-MED requirements) and final interview with Director of Flights Ops, Human Resources and Psychologist.
In October last year, TAP Air Portugal stated, that they were hiring 44 new pilots every month. For the first time also in Spain and England. This trend should continue throughout this year. The company should receive 71 new aircraft by the end of 2025.
