Easyjet female pilot

The British low-cost air carrier easyJet has released a new hiring campaign recently. It targets on women to make them join to the airline’s crew as pilots and bets on emotions. Stars of the recruitment spot are children!

Authors of this short movie transformed the well-known scene from the Hollywood blockbuster Catch Me If You Can with starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of a fake pilot. In the easyJet conception called Hey Hollywood! Catch Up, If You Can, the main character was played by 9 years old Hannah Revie who is the daughter of a real easyJet captain. Hannah walks dressed in the easyJet uniform surrounded by little boys – stewards through an airport. She demonstrates that women are as supposed to be pilots as men are and inspires other ladies to start their career in cockpits.

And what did Hannah say about the spot? “I think girls can do any job they want. I really enjoyed taking part in the film and it felt so exciting to wear a real pilot uniform like my mummy. One day I could be a pilot just like her and also the fifth pilot in my family.

The idea comes from the recent research that shows little boys dream about being pilots twice as often than girls do. So the easyJet employees visit UK schools to inspire children to think of their future career, set pilots as children role models, make pilots more visible for public and push aviation into gender equilibrium. easyJet wants to reach the goal to hire 20% new female pilots by 2020 thanks to this politics. Currently, 95% of pilots worldwide are men.

easyJet is about to hire 460 new pilots this year due their expansion. The airline welcomes everyone who dreams about the career in the sky – from cadet pilots to skilled co-pilots or captains with rich professional history. All applicants are supposed to be older than 18 years, at least high-school graduates with a good overview in Maths, Science and English. Another assumption is they have an EASA class 1 medical and residence so as work permit in the UK, EU or Switzerland.
