CAE, which provides training worldwide for a number of sectors including civil aviation, has announced a new Loganair Graduate Training Program, along with a new pilot training partnership with the airline to last three years.

The news was revealed at the 2019 European Aviation Training Symposium (EATS), which took place in Berlin recently.

Commenting on the launch of the new program, Maurice Boyle, Loganair’s Chief Operations Officer, said that it provided the chance for students to undertake high-quality training as they set out on their aviation career, with a view to graduating as professionally qualified pilots.

Nick Leontidis, the Group President of CAE’s Civil Aviation Training Solutions, added that partnerships were the key to delivering inventive and ground-breaking training to those commencing their pilot careers. He further commented that the partnership would bring added benefits to his company’s partner, Loganair.

The new graduate program – training and employment opportunities

The CAE Loganair Graduate Pilot Program offers a career pathway to graduates, with employment opportunities available to successful candidates.

It comprises individual type rating training for Embraer ERJ 135 or ERJ 145. The airline additionally operates ATR 42/72 and SAAB 340 aircraft.

As part of the program, Loganair sponsors the type rating training, offering employment to successful graduates.

The selection, screening, assessment and training of graduates is carried out by CAE on behalf of Loganair. Type rating will take place at the London Burgess Hill training centre.

The first cohort of 80 new student pilots has just embarked on the programme, with training currently in progress.

Loganair terms and conditions for pilots

A salary of First Officers on the Embraer fleet starts at £30,000 (annually) with additional duty pay / per diems. 

A roster is published around the 10th day of each month covering the upcoming month. A pattern is usually not stable, but it depends on bases.

A long-standing partnership

Loganair and CAE have partnered for over 15 years to offer pilot training on the Embraer ERJ145 simulator, as well as on Dornier 328TP FFSs, SAAB340 and SAAB2000.

CAE offers training solutions to the civil aviation, healthcare, defence and security sectors, while Loganair is based at Glasgow Airport (main base), flying to a number of destinations throughout Scotland and Europe.
