What is base transfer?
Most point-to-point airlines have a base transfer system. This means the pilot can ask for a preferred base to fly from.
If there is no place available when you start your job, another base will be allocated (usually by mutual agreement) and the pilot will be put on a waiting list for his or her preferred base. A pilot’s position on the waiting list is usually based on rank and seniority, but may be influenced by some other factors as well.
